CRI Director’s Year-End Letter

Dear Friends of CRI,

I have much to be grateful for—from my family at home to my work at Chain Reaction Innovations (CRI) at Argonne National Laboratory. During this holiday season, I reflect on why it is fulfilling to collaborate with the CRI team and innovators.

There are three elements that make this really my dream job.

Science with transformative applications. I’ve always loved science. I spent 22 years in school earning a Ph.D. in Chemical Physics, worked as a researcher, and was a faculty member at a research university. While science’s elegance and transcendence inspire me, it’s even more meaningful when discoveries lead to societal transformation. At CRI, I’m immersed in science today that will shape tomorrow.

Service to America. Working at a national lab to serve the United States is an honor. National labs have driven incredible progress, from the first demonstration of nuclear energy to breakthroughs in supercomputing. Being part of that legacy is a privilege.

Supporting people. Mentoring CRI innovators and helping them connect, lead, and achieve their goals brings me immense joy.

With a team dedicated to helping innovators succeed and enhancing the impact of Argonne’s science, I’m grateful to be part of something that impacts lives, science, and society.

I wish all of you a joyous, restorative, and safe holiday season!
