Project: Plasma-assisted combustion for jet engines and gas turbines

Felipe Gomez del Campo is the founder and the CEO of FGC Plasma Solutions, a Cleveland-based company, which is developing a novel fuel injector for jet engines and gas turbines.

Gomez del Campo has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Case Western University. He won best paper at the 2014 Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Conference for his work on “A Novel Lean-Premixed Fuel Nozzle Incorporating Gliding Arc Plasma to Enhance Combustion.”

In 2015, he was honored as an emerging global entrepreneur by President Barack Obama at the White House. He also was selected by the State Department to represent the United States at the 2016 Global Entrepreneurship Summit. Gomez del Campo earned a spot on the Forbes 30 under 30 list for 2016 in the energy category, the “Who’s Who to Watch in Technology” put out by Crain’s Cleveland Business, and one of México’s six extraordinary young people as designated by GQ Mexico. He also has been named a member of the American Institute
 of Aeronautics and Aerospace, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.
